After a very uneventful pregnancy, Addison decided to enter the world with a little drama. Here is her story:

Wednesday 2/17 (1 week overdue):

After what seemed like weeks and weeks of waiting, we were finally going to have our little girl. Wednesday was spent doing final cleaning of the house, relaxing as a family of two, and eating at one of our favorite places, Kenny and Zukes. Sean and I were both pretty anxious, but we managed to stay calm. We were scheduled to go in at midnight on Wednesday. Before we left we both got a little sleep and took showers (good idea, mom). Finally, at just after eleven we made the drive across town to St. Vincent's.

Thursday 2/18:

We checked in just before midnight and were settled into our room at St. Vincent's just after. I was quickly hooked up to some machines and checked to see where I was. I was still only 1 cm dilated, but I was having contractions (although I could not feel them). At this time I was given cervadil to help get me ready for labor. At about 1 am, Sean and I were left to get some sleep as we anticipated a very long day. I was awoken at about 3 in the morning with mild contractions. By 5 they were a little stronger and somewhat uncomfortable. At 8, they were right on top of each other and VERY strong. I was not having fun at that point. My doctor stopped by and I was still barely dilated (all that work and pain for nothing?). I got a little relief from some pain meds but not for long. At 11 am, I gave in and got my epidural. It was a little piece of heaven. Not much later I was started on pitocin. Although I could not feel the contractions, the were regular and strong. We all thought this was a great sign! Now we were just waiting for the show to really start. Addie had a different plan.

At about 4pm, the nurse noticed that although my contractions were good and strong, Addison was not doing so well. Her heart rate was up and down. The lowered the dose of pitocin I was getting but it still wasn't working. I was flipped around, switched sides I was on, and all sorts of things to see if that would help her. It didn't. At that time the nurse called my doctor in and they found that the umbilical cord was wrapped around Addison's neck. About 2 minutes later I was informed that even if they could get her untangled, she would not be able to withstand much more of the labor, thus an emergency c-section was needed. I was pretty shocked. This is not what I expected at all. The doctor gave me a few minutes with Sean and our moms before the team of people came in to wheel me to the O.R. It all happened so fast! I was being pumped with meds and fluids as I was being wheeled out. Sean followed. About 10 or 15 minutes later, we heard Addison's first cries. When they brought her around the curtain to show us, I couldn't believe she was here. She was nothing what I expected! She looked huge!! At 8lbs, 5 oz, I guess she was a pretty good size. I was also surprised at how much hair she had. Sean and I both started crying (happy tears). After doing all the tests they needed to do, Sean and Addison went back to our recovery room for her bath while I got stitched up. I was able to join them about 20 minutes later.

I still can't believe how this all turned out, but I am so happy to finally have her here. She is beautiful and doing really well now. She is a good baby. We are getting used to her and she is getting used to us. Even Mac loves this little baby!

We came home on Sunday and have now been parents for a whole week! Time is already flying by!

Due Date...

Well, today is Addison's due date, yet there is no sign of her coming out. Sean and I spent the day cleaning and running errands. We did some mall walking (since the weather was so yucky) in hopes that it might encourage to come, but still nothing. We are definitely ready and anxious to meet our little one. As of yesterday I was 70% effaced (good), her head was low (good), but not dilated at all (bad).

We received news from our doctor today that if she doesn't arrive by next Wednesday, we will be induced then. Hopefully she will make her appearance sooner! We might just go nuts waiting.

We can't wait to meet you, Addison, so please hurry up and get here!

The Waiting Game...

With just less than 2 weeks until our due date, we have now entered the "waiting period". I have been told that this is the longest part of pregnancy - I totally get it. We are feeling pretty darn ready for this little girl to come into the world. I am now feeling the uncomfortableness of being 9 months pregnant - swollen feet, the waddle, frequent bathroom trips. Still, I can say that I am grateful to have had such an "easy" pregnancy. Little girl likes stick her foot in my left side. She is a stretcher - baby yoga perhaps? I still get a kick out of watching my belly move around. It is quite amazing.

I am now officially on maternity leave and I have some little things that I need to get done, but other than that it is rest and relaxation for me. Will she come early or late? Who knows. Sean and I both have our opinions. The real question is: Will Sean become a dad when he is 29 or 30? With his birthday coming next Friday, it is anybody's guess.

Happy New Year!

It is now 2010 and we can officially say that we are due NEXT MONTH! We had a whirlwind winter break full of family, friends, and fun! We made the rounds and were able to see all of the grandparents and family at Christmas. We've been organizing and getting ready for baby and are really close to being pretty well prepared.

New Year's Eve was exciting for both Sean and I, even though we didn't get to spend it together. Sean road-tripped down to Pasadena (thank you, Frost!) to cheer on our Ducks. I opted out of the RV trip for the comforts of home - something I needed being 34 weeks pregnant and feeling bigger every day. Though the Ducks didn't pull off the win, Sean and the crew had a good time nonetheless.

I stayed in Portland for a fun-filled evening with some of my favorite ladies - Katie, Becca, and Tina - and my parents. We had a great time at Andina, eating yummy food and drinking delicious drinks (OK, I had a lemonade - but everyone else really liked their drinks). Our night started off rocky with a late seating, some champagne spillage, and a loud band. It ended with free drinks, party hats, a conga line, and happy tummies! Overall, a great start to 2010. This year is definitely going to be one of the most exciting in our lives yet. We are counting down the weeks and can't wait to meet this little girl!

Baby Shower!

Today was a great day with a bunch of lovely ladies! My sisters threw me a fabulous baby shower complete with pink cupcakes, pink M & Ms and pink champagne (for the guests of course). It was so great to be surrounded by such wonderful women. I am currently 31 weeks (7 months). I can't believe how fast my pregnancy is going! I am feeling great and the little lady is frequently letting me know she is here.

We of course had to play some games. In this one, everyone had to guess my current waist size with a piece of string. It was close, but Ruby and Makenna won the prizes.

28 week pics (Third Trimester)

Here are some updated pics of my growing belly (28 weeks 3 days -- 6 1/2 months). It is almost Thanksgiving and I am SO excited that I have pants with a very expandable waist. Bring on the grub!

We are now officially in the third trimester. Feeling great! Baby Lee is doing great as well.

Nesting

According to Sean, I am nesting. I say I am just checking things off of our very long to do list. We had a very productive week on the home front. My mid-week day off (Veteran's Day) was spent doing the baby registry. Sean came along (but only because he got to use the scan gun the whole time). We did Target in the morning and Babies R Us in the afternoon. We were wiped out after that! I didn't think it would be so overwhelming until I saw the wall of bottles to choose from.

On Thursday morning we had another monthly doctors appointment. This month starts the every two week appointments as a precursor to the every week ones. It seems a little overkill when I am doing so well, but I guess it is routine. All is well with Baby Lee. She is measuring just where she is supposed to be, not too small and not too big. Oh, and to reassure everyone who is worried about me being around all of those germy teenagers, I did get my H1N1 vaccine. Probably a good thing since I have had a couple of kids out sick with it this year.

This weekend we made progress on the nursery, putting together the dresser, prepping the walls for painting, and putting in a new light fixture - all without killing each other. :-) We still have a lot of things to do on our "To Do" list, but we are feeling pretty good about everything right now.

Now I am getting ready for another work week. I actually have to work 5 days this week! I know, being a public employee is tough sometimes. I am sure it will go by fast. This week we will also enter into the third trimester. Amazing how time flies!

26 Weeks

I am 26 weeks (6 months) and feeling fine. Everyday someone either tells me I am huge or tiny for 6 months. It's pretty funny actually. Operation Baby Room is still in the works. My decorator (aka Katie) will come over soon to give some new ideas. Here is a new pic of my expanding belly:

Sean and I are now working on getting the house ready for our Thanksgiving guests. We can't wait! I love the holiday season!

Starting to get ready...

I am 24 weeks along (almost 6 months) and doing great. Little Lee is kicking on a regular basis and she is making her presence known with my growing belly. We've had a busy few weeks with a trip to visit the Taylor's in Boise, lots of work, and playtime with friends. We had a great time with Auntie Becca this weekend and we got a lot accomplished! We made some big (and exciting) purchases to get ready for our little girl. Here are some pics of the beginning of our little lady's room.

With a few more furniture purchases and some paint, we will be in good shape! We are loving every minute of this. It is so great to see it all coming together!

Big Baby!

Baby girl was much more cooperative at our follow-up ultrasound on Tuesday. The tech was able to get all of the measurements and let us know that all is well with Baby Lee. She is growing like crazy and is currently in the 70th percentile. She weighs 1 lb 8 oz now. Sean and I were happy to see her toes wiggling and heart pumping. I was just a little bit thrown off when our doctor asked us which one of us was a 10 lb baby. Yikes!

I am still feeling great. My belly is definitely showing. My students are noticing more and more and now are giving me name suggestions. Some of the interesting picks so far: Cinnamon and Rainbow. Other than that, I am just trying to stay healthy and keep my distance from all those germy middle-schoolers.

It's a GIRL!!!!!

We finally had our big ultrasound last Thursday, Sept. 24th. We were exactly 20 weeks (the halfway point). Both of us were very anxious to find out what Baby Lee is and luckily we had a very nice ultrasound tech who told us as soon as we got started. We both had a feeling it was a girl and we were right! The little lady was moving and shaking all around. She was such a wiggle worm that we have to go back in two weeks for another ultrasound so they can finish getting all of the measurements.

I have been feeling lots of kicks this past week, especially in the evening. That seems to be play time. Here is a pic of me at 20 1/2 weeks:

For all of you visual learners, Baby Girl Lee is the length of a banana this week.

More posts to come, including some ultrasound pics. In the mean time, I am trying resist going out and buying all of the adorably cute girl stuff that I see everywhere I go.

Dancing feet!

There is a baby dancing in my belly! I've been feeling movement every once in a while for about a week now. Today, Sean got to feel the little peanut too! So exciting!

18 weeks- We have a bump!

This week signified the start of school and the beginning of the bump! It kind of popped out all of a sudden. I thought I would be good for a few weeks with my pre-preggo school clothes, but no such luck. Luckily it has been warm this week, so comfy summer dresses are doing the job. I guess I have a good excuse to go shopping now. :-)

Here is a new pic. We are officially 18 weeks now and 2 weeks away from finding out Baby Lee's gender. Keep in mind that this picture was taken in the evening (so the bump is bigger), but it is still pretty noticeable during the day now too.

We are all well here in the Lee household. Mac and I are getting used to the new schedule. He misses me when I am gone all day (and, of course, so does Sean). We are loving life and feel lucky to be where we are.

Happy Anniversary!

Today we celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary. We had a delicious dinner at Davis Street Tavern. We celebrated a day early so Sean could recover from our big dinner before he runs the Hood to Coast on Friday. It was lovely and we are stuffed! The restaurant even gave us free champagne. Lucky Sean got to have TWO glasses (after I had a celebratory sip). Four years and we are feeling so lucky to be where we are in life!

16 weeks- I'm growing an avocado

Here I am at 16 weeks (almost 4 months for all of you non-preggos who still think in months like normal people). We had a doctor's appointment yesterday and everything is well. Nothing exciting to report. We are counting down until our big ultrasound next month to see if we will be joining Team Pink or Team Blue. I am not being very patient though. I want to know now! :-)

Our little peanut is now the size of an avocado. Mmmm...I love avocados.

15 weeks

Per requests, I will attempt to put up weekly belly pics. This was taken a couple of days ago at 15 weeks. It's not so much a belly bump as it is a belly pooch. :-)

Sleepy baby

With nothing to show to the outside world quite yet, waiting to see baby again makes me anxious! We went in for our 12 week appt and got to see and hear our little peanut. Baby is looking much more like a little human instead of a blob. He/she was upside down and sleeping at first, but after a lot of jiggling and coughing he/she woke up and did a little dance for us. All is well. The next photo shoot will be at the end of September. I am feeling a little tired, but pretty good. It has been 100+ degrees all week, but we are staying nice and cool in our lovely air-conditioned home.

8 weeks and there is definitely a baby in there! Today was our first real doctor's appointment. We met with our fab doc and had our first ultrasound! We were very excited to see that little blob on the screen with a cute little heart beating fast. It's real now!
